SS KETTLE CREEK was a class T-2 tanker, the most common type of tanker built for service in World War II, with 533 constructed by four shipyards in four years. She was built in 114 days in April-July 1944 by Sun Shipbuilding, Chester, Pennsylvania. She survived the war and was sold to a private shipping company in 1947, sold again in 1952 and 1956, renamed in 1957 to WASHINGTON STANDARD. She was scrapped in China in 1973.
