I found a reference to the Black Warrior in a letter my dad wrote my mom April 8th 1944. Daddy wrote that he "saw them launch a ship today at 11:15 a.m. the name of the ship was Black Warrior." This was in Wilmington, nc. Daddy said he had strung some lights on the ship.
