Might I say that as an incentive he could award points and eventually
prizes for our efforts.
Which brings to mind the experience of a gunners mate by the name of
Fred Pennymop who at war’s end returned to South Bend Indiana and to
his old job as representative for an engineering company.
Germany at this time was in ruins but nevertheless Fred was sent there
to try and drum up business.
It was in the lobby of his hotel that one evening that he struck up a friendship with a delightful Aryan beauty who eventually spent the night with him.
Next morning when she was dressed and ready to leave his room Fred said ‘would you except this fifty dollar bill?’ ‘That’s very kind of you’ she said ‘but I would prefer marks’.
‘Oh! alright’ he said ‘eight out of ten’.
