On November 1st, a movie “BRAVO” will be presented at 10:00 a.m. at the VANC building as a fund raising event. The documentary film is a narrative of the 77 day siege at Khe Sanh, Vietnam. The Commanding Officer of “B” Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marines and some members of his Company will be at the VANC building to present their accounts of what really happened at Khe Sanh.
On January 21, 1968, an intense barrage of artillery hit the US Marine base at Khe Sanh in northwest South Vietnam. This presaged a siege and battle that would last for seventy-seven days and would see 6,000 Marines hold off 20,000 North Vietnamese. Anticipating that American forces would be drawn north to the fighting at Khe Sanh, Viet Cong units broke the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) cease-fire on January 30, 1968, by launching major attacks against most cities in South Vietnam.
Please plan to attend this fund raising event for the VANC building. The movie is free, but we are asking for a small donation, which the City of Oceanside will match your donation. For every $5.00 that you donate you will be given a ticket for a drawing for a 32 inch Flat Screen TV. Please we need your help.
If you can’t attend the presentation, please consider mailing your donation to the VANC, Attn: Bravo, 1617 Mission Ave., Oceanside, CA. 92058. Please write PHASE III in the memo section of your check.
