As others have stated I hope everyone is well and had a Nice Christmas.
I recall being in Livorno, Italy for many days in December 1944 unloading 5,000 tons of 155mm shells.
On Christmas eve we were again attacked by German bombers and my gunner and I wondered WHY such things had to happen on this date! The shore batteries really threw up the anti aircraft fire and some of the shrapnel "pinged" and rattled around our ship. However, all of us were happy we were NOT up where the "ground pounders" were fighting for their lives in the "Bulge".
God Bless all of us as this new year progresses.
