S/S Joseph Murgas Info Request

Does anyone have info on this ship? Dates etc? My grandfather was on it, as well as some others. Reportedly he was on a ship during Normandy invasion, but never received that award, and we are looking into getting it posthumously. Any help would be appreciated.
