Dad also told a story of the Russian Women unloading the ships in January 1944. He said the women were tossing some sort of supplies in sacks over their shoulder and carrying it off the ship. He said a few sailors thought they could make some friends by helping. Kind of backfired when they could not keep up with the Russian Women. Not sure if this was true or became a tale over the years.
