Tomorrow marks the day that US Marines commenced that LONG, LONG hard return to Victory against the Japanese. Guadalcanal was a difficult battle. Many more lie ahead of the Marines. Many were even more difficult.
I think sbout that almost every August 7.
I was not there because I had not even entered the US Navy at that time. However, I did know some guys from high school who were there.

I was pained at oday's news about Navy Seal Team Six and the others who were killed in Afghanistan.
War is always HELL.
