It was a very successful visit, with a sold-out "Living History Cruise" on Saturday, while several thousand visitors came aboard during our four days at dockside.
On our voyage north we stopped and buried at sea eight of our fellow shipmates, who now rest in peace below the waves.
We encountered a very severe storm during our return trip to Baltimore, with the ship rolling and plunging heavily for nearly 24 hours this past Tuesday. But our old ship was up to the challenge.
Here is a link to an interesting story in the Providence newspaper about an Armed Guard veteran who visited the ship: http://www.projo.com/news/content/Melvin_Kahn_09-27-10_9FJVQR1_v30.1fb0e6e.html.
It was a great trip that I would not have missed for the world.
