My father Willis Gray served in the Armed Guard on the Fairweather and Colton during the war. He passed in 1977 and rarely spoke of his time at sea. I am interested in what life was like on these ships. I am a retired Air Force navigator with 32 years of service. When I enlisted in the Air Force he told me that I was making a mistake. I wish he could have been around for my career.
