The manuscript of "Ice Road to Hell," went to a publisher this week. I hold no great hope that it will pass muster without tender editorial handwork, but we shall see. For those who may be interested, the tale comprises three parts: convoy PPQ-20 transit from Canada to Murmansk, layover in the Soviet port city, and as convoy RA-51, return transit home. Each section of the trilogy has plenty of action, ome of which kindly has been pre-read by some of you who knew it for real -- for which I am endlessly grateful. For one whose naval career happened when 3"50cal rifles were automated and rapidly being overtaken by guided missiles, I expect I have made mistakes in the weapons you sea warriors fussed and fumed about, and whose use made all the difference in life-death struggles with a capable foe. I expect to hear from you on 'finer points' of the devices, nomenclature, and adventures. Thanks for the wishes and encouragement. Warm regards, Steve Myers, a shipmate who knows the Barents Sea well.
