John, I was an Armed Guard Seaman and made the run to Murmansk in Dec. of 1943. I was on the Liberty ship Donald Bain and was a 20 millimeter gunner on the port side stern gun tub. We stayed in Murmansk for about a month waiting for the cold to abate a bit and the river to open. Love to hear about your experience on your trip. Gerry Burr
