Most leagues already mandate background checks however many of the leagues look the other way and let coaches on staffs with questionable backgrounds with waivers. why do they do that? not enough volunteer coaches out there.
In-season training(classes) - again laughable. USA Football money making scheme. Many organizations are already heading in that direction, utilizing the heads up tackling program. Coaches complete the on-line or face to face training, take and pass the test, become "certified" and then they go and implement their own coaching styles in practice. None of the leagues enforce the heads up tackling nor can they adequately supervise every practice. I personally think the heads up tackling system is the way to go, but I've seen so many USA certified coaches teach their own style after having that title. I'm not trying to be sarcastic but that is just the way it is.
Would love to see practice & game audits done on coaching, but who is going to do it? Most of the leadership in these organizations are associated with former clubs, so it will look really shady if these league directors start axing individual from clubs for poor coaching or bad language, etc. Plus who will take over for these coaches. What happens when parents bolt with their kids and the relieved coaches? you know that will happen and it will totally disrupt the season and schedules.
Sounds grand...but I can't see this going anywhere. Football is a tough sport, its not popular with the weak. This is just politically correct banter unfortunately.
