anchor lights & nothing else.

Your idea is a possibilty because this is new territory being looked at and there is probably other uses for it as well.

that ship is anchored & not drifting or underway. even the Fletchers had that light on mount 52 but further back on it's roof.

That's interesting ... So they could drop the anchor or anchors at night and see what they're
doing in a port or anchorage .

plan I have on the computer shows it & only on mount 52 not the other gun mounts.

I know what you're talking about, have seen it in photos, and have found a 1943 outboard profile that labels it. Unforunately, at the resolution shown the label can not be read! (What's the point of even putting the image online?) It's atop the B turret:

Exasperating. Hopefully someone like Rick E. Davis can chime in and help out.
Here's a photo also showing it atop the B turret, between the guns as you've described. See the dockside image in this group:

A few messages down from this one was the announcement of the new Triumph Sumner class DD in 1/350 scale.Looking at the photos on the twin 5/38 guns there was at the moment I'll call a pipe. Located on top of the turret behind the 2 barrels.
Causing me to go to my references. The kit has 3 of these "pipes" on top of each 5/38 turret. One per turret. My references show that the 2nd forward turret has one on the real ship. DD-692.Others of the Sumner class also received this "pipe". So what is it? A periscope for gunfire assignments? A navigation light? I don't know. So any one have a idea about this? Thanks in Advance.
