I've downloaded STL files for conversions or 1/700 aircraft and have printed myself. Have also built a 1/72 or 1/48 model, 3D scanned, exported to an STL file, scaled down to 1/700 and 3D printed for an aircraft carrier project.

Yeah. I'll wait for a build report before I pull the trigger but the idea is intriguing.
