I've purchased a dozen books from Australia, with no complaints. Sometimes a little expensive but generally quick transit times and zero issues with import charges / US Customs.
The Australian Post Office may well have the best tracking service out there! Register and you'll get tracking updates e-mailed to you: https://auspost.com.au/mypost/track/search

I've not had trouble with anything originating from down under although, for quite some time now, I've avoided ordering from outfits where a tariff is involved.
All my previous orders from Australia and New Zealand have been hassle free; as for these days, I don't know.
