The next to go, USS Germantown (LSD 42) was decommissioned at Naval Base San Diego last week. However, instead of being scheduled for scrapping in the immediate future, she is being retained onsite as a "logistics support asset" to provide spares for the remaining LSDs still in service. As the attached photo taken after the Germantown's ceremony shows, she has already been modified, e.g., the bridge windows have been covered and various deck openings closed, for this new role:

Decommissioning plans for the remaining members of the Whidbey Island-class have not been settled, neither have those for the follow-on Harpers Ferry-class ships.
Ultimately, these ships will be replaced by the Flight II San Antonio-class landing platform docks (LPD). The first of which, USS Harrisburg (LPD 30), will be commissioned next year.
