Looks to me like he scaled the marking directions to 1/700, cut them out and then used as a paint mask, which is something I also do.
Is that right?
Nice work Nick, typically highly detailed AJM model which put printed models to the test.

the choice of decals for the camo was right. The camo looks convincing and doesn't suffer from the affliction of most camo painted models, where brush applied paint is obviously too thick.
Did Argus really carry so many planes? I'm not sure, but the crowded deck adds to the overall appearance. Previous Message
Nick built the aircraft carrier HMS Argus as in 1918 using the AJM Models kit - and decals for the camouflage pattern:
