Thanks to Art, Craig and Dean. I will add Trumpy's 1/700 Midway to my collection.
Yes the A1-J Savage was capable of carrying (and delivering?) the navy's atomic bomb and the Mediterranean Sea was probably about as close the USN was ever going to get to metropolitan USSR, and I don't think the Essex's were able to handle it.
The Air Force didn't want the navy dropping A bombs either, fought tooth and nail for the exclusive rights.

All three Midways were stationed in the Atlantic or Med as they were earmarked for defense against the Soviets. They were considered part of the US nuclear umbrella over Europe. The US and UK had plenty of other carriers to use in the "Police Action" in Korea. Previous Message
Thanks, I went to a Trumpeter product site but it was not that one and no mention. Well good box art, and is the 41 out of place?
The Midway straight deck were good looking and I expect will build into an impressive model in 1/700. Poor old Coral Sea, always on the outer but she had to be different.

Hi All,
Trumpeter has announced a 1/700 kit of USS Midway (CV-41). Looks to be in her 1945 fit, though the box art has her hull number on the funnel.
