put on after October 1945.
According to the Researcher at Large website the hull numbers were to be put in the center of the smoke stack to be 8ft tall and painted with white paint. No black outlining.
I've seen photos of the Midway from early 1946 to 1947 carrying them until the Midway had a new superstructure installed with the hull numbers on the smokestack with black outlining on the numbers.

Thanks, I went to a Trumpeter product site but it was not that one and no mention. Well good box art, and is the 41 out of place?
The Midway straight deck were good looking and I expect will build into an impressive model in 1/700. Poor old Coral Sea, always on the outer but she had to be different.
Why didn't the USN test them on Korea station?

Hi All,
Trumpeter has announced a 1/700 kit of USS Midway (CV-41). Looks to be in her 1945 fit, though the box art has her hull number on the funnel.
Just FYI.
