The term "rivet counter" came from the Lionel Corp. When they produced the scale Hudson in the 1930s, one customer claimed that the tender did not have the correct number of rivets. So, Lionel assigned an employee to count them.

comes from the armor model community, has spread to the other communitues, and exists for a reason. To one degree or another, we all do it. Accuracy is pretty much what the hobby's about. We all decry the flat bottomed Revell kits of our youth as toys. We are generally pleased with the new offerings, none of which however, completely match the actual vessel to the last detail. Which gives us a goal to aim for, to whatever degree we choose to strive. Previous Message

problem with the model. there should be 8 bilge keels on the bottom of the hull & I see only 6 & they might not be in the correct positions & lengths. Previous Message
