Yup that would work if there was not a 1/4” of plastic run before the holes or they tapered one hull end but they did not do that. See basically MRY-SFW does not know how to set up a print on small printer. Ever wonder why you see 3D printed ship models angled upwards on wafer? I am guessing small printer and they are splitting the hull in half. MRY-SFW does provide a line indicating how much has to be removed at both ends of hull. All nicely done in that brittle plastic. You can sand but that will take forever without a rotary table grinder. MRY-SFW recommends a hacksaw. I have a hacksaw but to be honest what you really need is a fine cut from a table top rotary saw otherwise the putty has to come out.

Not worth the effort. Time is a valuable commodity, I also must be honest with myself about my skill level and available tools. No hope for the MRY-SFW kits in my hands.

The models are cheap. As much as the expense of an EV accessory set. In the case of the CVL I got nice stacks , detailed crane and masts etc. These parts will now be retrofitted to a Skywave CVL. Same kit I will detail further with Black Cat radars and deck vehicles. Bunker Studio weapons, and finally Tom’s Modelwork’s aircraft.

I just wish to build the best kit possible within my skill level and if it means bashing parts and tossing the cannibalized kit in the pail so be it. Maybe MRY-SFW should change how they produce the majority of their kits.

i thought this was a modellers site!! it is seconds work to pot a dot or 2 paint on one half put together then drill the spots add a dowel and glue!

the split hulls are not really much trouble if you have a small tavle top sander. I did the much larger H-44 battleship and it went very well indeed.

Since last year I have been buying both 1/700 MRY-SFW and 3D printed un-branded kits off evil site. The MRY-SFW kits that were immediately stripped of masts and other parts and tossed in pail because they cut the hull in half and expected you to use a hacksaw to join bow and stern were the following:
Perry Class Frigate
Independence CVL
Knox Class Frigate
Belknap CG
Charles Adams DDG
Virginia CGN
California CGN
Their 3D printing of detail varied from very good to just shape and form.Really did not matter when they were split in two.

Keepers from MRY-SFW were:
Coontz DDG
Garcia Frigate
Leahy CG
Brooke Frigate
All one piece water line hulls. Their boxed Wichita was nice with one piece hull but I am not too crazy that they printed 20mm guns in place. That will be a tender assembly to be sure.

Now for the unbranded kits in 1/700 one piece hulls:

1944 Enterprise printed in orange resin excellent. (Don’t confuse it with SLA or GAGA)

Ranger printed in orange resin also excellent

LHD Wasp printed in orange resin ok but not excellent

Midway printed in orange resin hit the pail. Missing much detail and parts. It appears they copied the Orange Hobby hull and got lost from there. No particular era and missing a number of sponsors

America LHA 6 printed in gray resin. They split the hull but put holes on one end and matching pins in the other so bow and stern went together with just a line seam. Island needs work, weapons under scale, mast was poop. Keep the Orange Hobby kit but that too was a pain in the butt
