JS Chōkai (DDG 176) departs Naval Base San Diego on 7 August 2026 on her way back to Japan (see link below). Chōkai arrived in San Diego on 15 October 2025 to begin a year-long deployment to upgrade the ship to fire Tomahawk missiles, train her crew in operations with the missiles, and successfully perform live fire tests with them. Chōkai became the first Japanese warship to fire a Tomahawk missile on 28 July (29 July in Japan). She is currently at Pearl Harbor and scheduled to arrive back in Japan by September.
