Ok so I took the plunge and ordered the black resin (somewhat brittle black resin) water line variant of the John Butler DE in 1/700 from the evil site. It arrived and Wow! Printed 3D mast with the detail of the radars, railings already printed in place, open lattice DC roller racks. Reviewing the detail wafer, the printer did not miss a detail, ammunition lockers, practice loader, torpedo tubes, smoke generators, k-guns, etc. . All very tiny and some parts I can not identify. Way beyond the Skywave kit. Painting black resin an issue and as usual with most 3D kits from the evil site no instructions no decals.

Same day of arrival was my order from Black Cat. A USN DE gathering at my doorstep. It was my first ship model order with The Black Cat . I did not know what to expect . I ordered the Edsall w/enhanced AA fit and the Cannon w/enhanced AA fit. I have been waiting a long time to do a Cannon with the 4-40mm singles amidship. Very unique subject. 3D printing was beautiful in soft light gray resin with attachment points beneath hull and parts meaning simple cleanup. The Cat did not miss any detail . Floater net baskets, rafts, guns etc. all on separate wafer. The very colorful instruction booklet (color coding of assemblies and sequence ) was easy to follow. And no overly complicated photo-etch (usually I am all thumbs with photo-etch). Last panel of instruction booklet is a painting guide and finally a decal sheet of small white numbers for the hull. The Cat nailed it with these offerings by going the extra mile in 1/700 and brought back fun and ease of build to this hobbyist. Bravo Black Cat!
