During the Bunker Hill's raid on Rabaul in 11/43, VF-17 flew cap missions for the carrier task force. The Corsairs landed on CV-17, refueled and took off. I would guess that this isolated incident was the first time that F4Us operated in combat from an aircraft carrier. I believe that the Brits also operated F4Us in 1944 before the first squadrons were deployed to US Carriers

Multi part question here concerning F4U s upon carrier decks
1. When was the 3 bladed propellor F4U introduced to carrier decks during the war?
2. Who flew the aircraft ? USN aviators or Marine aviators and if Marine aviators were there “Marines” insignia upon their aircraft as we see after war?
3. When was the 4 bladed propellor F4U introduced upon WW2 carrier decks?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
