The West Virginia, California, and Tennessee were all blistered during their repairs and rebuilding, changing the beam from 97' to 114'. These blisters had vertical sides. Maryland was widened to 108' with blisters that tapered inward at the top. Trumpeter simply used the West Virginia base plate on the Maryland kit and made the blisters with vertical sides. Some think the difference is of no consequence while others believe differently. How far are you willing/needing to go for accuracy? Only you can answer that one.

I've the Trumpeter 1/700 scale model of the USS Maryland 1941 and was wondering if the torpedo bulge on this kit is too wide especially at the top just below the main deck ? The gap at the top is between 3-4 mm wide. Should it be reduced to a thinner profile. I have the Five Star photoetch update set, some turned metal barrels, a ED Model Parts Colorado fighting tops and the cage mast set from Tom's Model works for this model kit.
