Thanks everyone, for your answers. I've managed to replicate them in 96th scale, but it's always nice to know what they're for. I agree that they're not to tie ships boats to, as that's what the Boat Booms are for. As for Paravanes, they're "worked" through the Paravane Towing Bracket fitted to the forefoot of the stem.

I'll keep researching.
