The Navy has newly installed two 3"/70 Mark 26 Gun Mounts at Gate 2, on the northeast corner where Hampton Blvd enters the base. Previously just a flagpole was there. They are a nice addition. I was floored when I saw them, as I don't know of any other on display. These are the same type of gun USS Norfolk (DL-1) carried, but I don't know the provenance of these guns. I plan to get pics, but wanted to share the news.
