I made an 'impulse buy' today - the Trumpeter HMS Queen Elizabeth. It's a 1/700 scale kit and, from memory, I think it's about as long as the old Aifix HMS Victorious I bought when it was first issued.
There the similaries cease. The QE kit cost £73.00, the Victorious kit cost the equivalent of £0.30 in today's money! (6/-, six shillings at the time.)
I doubt I'll build this kit and it will go into my stash of kits.
The photos show the contents. There is one blooper I have spotted in the text of one page. If you are interested have a look, it's clear to see. What amazed and pleased me is the printed flight deck (also the lifts and ski jump). Given the complexity of moulded fixtures and fittings, the various different flight deck textures and the markings, I think this is a brilliant innovation for which Trumpeter should be praised.
All of the mouldings appear crisp and flash-free. A small set of photo etch is included with a decal sheet. I haven't measured any dimensions, but it looks like a good model.
