That was paler, almost an off-white. The owner of this Spitfire thought it would look better at air displays if he used a more intense pink. He was probably right, but it has continued to confuse people.

You can find online a photo of 16 Sq in France in a pink almost this intense, but the other colours look a little off and when the photo is reproduced with less red, everything looks better.
