
You can make a good job of both I-1 and I-6 although the limber holes are tough. PE is a must on these submarines; Mr. Harden is of help there. Ditch the waterline plates...I think the current plates are thinner than the original red ones tho' I can't recall...I ditched them anyway. The extra parts included in later releases consists of that 'X' set, not the 'W' set...of supplementary armament, A/C and miscellaneous fittings seen separately under the Tamiya and Aoshima labels (formerly under the old 'Leviathan' name) and now included in so many WL releases by Aoshima, at least.
As far as I've seen, no work of any kind--other than mold maintenance and those new plates--has been done with the original molds. Quite the opening for Pit-Road I'd say.

It says "new parts" for 2025. Now, that can mean all sorts of things. They could have simply added a small PE fret, or even just changed the decals, and unfortunately the site does not give details. I doubt any sort of actual retooling, but some sort of "refresh" was apparently just recently done to the kit. Some online hobby shops show kit contents, or you might find a review which would show you what changed.

I am just curious about this. Is there new tooling done on the very ancient 1/700 scale sub kits of minicraft I-1 and the I-6? The other kit is the 1/700 scale I-361 and I-171 by Hasegawa.
