Hi Chris,
Would you believe it's covered in soot from the stacks. For some reason, during this trip back to Pearl from California, her stacks would be spewing out black smoke. It must have been absolutely awful to be up in that fighting top with all that smoke.

I agree on this being a very inspiring image!
Is this ms1 with a nonconforming dk grey or black on the upper works behind the stack? Please don’t let it be an in progress repainting.
