The color is good, true black is too intense in my opinion. But the paint is fragile. It wears off from handling more that I like.

For builders of British Victorian painted ships, especially 1/700: Do you paint the black parts true black, or a very dark gray to make the surface detail more visible? I don't care about "color scaling" or whatever, but it would be nice to be able to see the details of the ship (while preserving the overall Victorian appearance).
