...it is tough to see USS Detroit's berth due to cloud cover but notice the very dark object in the upper right of the photo with what appears to be crescent moon shaped wake in the water. This might be USS Detroit in the middle of her turning around.
This chart claims Detroit started this movement at 1010am.
Well, I can tell you that Vestal grounded herself sometime between 945am-10am and Phoenix started her adventurous sortie at 1010am.
My guess is this is one of the last photo's taken by the Japanese as they finished the raid right around 945am.

That's pretty cool. Do know about what time of day it was taken?

I have never seen this photo before. On the far left is USS Arizona burning out of control. In the middle is USS Solace (the white ship). At the bottom is USS Vestal. And on the right is USS Phoenix preparing to sortie.
This is the best overhead shot of her that I've seen so far. You can clearly see that her #2 turret top is painted white (it also has two willow green stripes over the white). She was part of CRUDIV 9.
I believe she was the 3rd ship within CRUDIV9 so her #4 turret top would have a blue square over a white border.
I still find it amazing that the Japanese completely ignored her. She was a very large target sitting out there all by herself.
