Munro and any frigate derived from it without major changes (added sonars and other ASW equipment) would have had severe problems with any submarine. Munro lacks sonar, ASW weapons, decoys against torpedoes etc. The reports describing the new frigates based on the Legend class claim that there will be no major changes - therefore these frigates will not have any ASW capabilities.

But there was not submarine to defend the tanker...
