
Dali obviously did a lot of fine design work and produced a very extensive set of photo-etch. The problem with the kit is that much of the work above the deck is just off with some fictional detailing.
The shape and detailing of the superstructure, funnel and fighting tops just don't match photos or shipyard drawings of the actual ship.
For example, here are some issues (among others):
- The real funnel had an elliptical shape. The Dali kit's funnel is more of an oval.
- The real uppermost station on the fighting tops was a tetradecagon (14-sided shape). The Dali kit's station is a cylinder.
- The boat deck's skylights are off and it's missing the large ventilators.
It's things like that that bother some modelers but not others.
A really nice model can certainly be built from the kit and the finished model will look like Arizona. Whether or not the accuracy problems matter is up to you.
