I have never had any difficulty with the orange reside two-part hulls in any of the 3D-printed models I purchased online from China (e.g., the Andrea Doria, USS Colorado, HMS Agincourt). The dark grey multi-section hulls (Settsu, Dante Alighieri, SMS Helgoland and SMS Kaiser) are another matter. But Simon's suggestion is a good one, and correctly done it can not only increase the strength of the bond between adjacent hull sections but also hold them in place while the glue dries. In any event, there will still be a need for both putty-filling and sanding to assure a smooth and uniform surface.

No, there are four hull segments bow to stern, measuring c. 7.5", 4.5", 3", and 8", with a single "butt plate" at the end of each segment - that "butt plate" must be cut off. Robert Apfelzweig suggested that I make those four cuts with a table saw or knife and then bench sand each part before gluing. That leaves little real support for gluing the four hull segments together. Possible, but difficult.
