I just found a video on youtube from a shipyard engineer who claims that an updated Perry would be the best option, in the long run.
He is not talking about refitting old Perrys, but updating the design to build new ships.
Very worth the watch.

Late delivery (was supposed to deliver 2024 according to data) and overbudget (all are).
It's actually funny, because they choose the FREMM because it had considerable room for growth, whereas the NSF is smaller with less growth potential.

Why USCGC Friedman was cancelled?
Named after a woman? To complete her as frigate instead?
If there were problems with her building process/progress, it would not be a good sign for the building of the frigates.
