Ultrasonic cutters, as well as acrylic soft tip markers are the last recent revolutions in model making.

These cutters are excellent for clean cutting and shaving of those tiny supports on 3D printing without breaking small parts.
Ditto for PE which can be cut easily without deformation and burrs.
Same again for tiny parts on plastic sprue.

After a period of high prices their cost began to shrink dramatically by late 2024. Now you can get some under $100 online.

Beware: when in use the blade vibrates 40,000times per second and this is silent and not visible, so if your fingers incidentally come into contact with a working one this will result in a very serious "chirurgical" cut. You may use special anti-cut fingers gloves and never lay a working cutter on your workbench.
