A kit dealer can't give you too much to stay in business themselves, some can or will only pay 10c in the dollar, and they can only really work on pick up. What's the freight on 125 kits? they're not going to pay it.
Your FiL left you an asset to profit by and have some fun at the same time. Go to, where else, eBay! Find what's in your stash in models & kits and watch how they go. List your own at whatever price you think will offer a good bargain and either list them at 'Buy it now' or auction. If you have hard to find rarities it is great sport to watch the seconds tick off with snipers trying for the last bid.
Are you pressed for time? If not take it easy and the auction site is the best, just don't over price it to make it unobtainable to the punters otherwise it can sit there for years, no bull!.
And as has been suggested, list some here and see how they go, though this is a members bulletin board and a discount would be expected, but this is the audience you're looking for.

Hello, everyone! My father-in-law recently passed away, and he had an extensive collection of ship modeling kits that spans over 50 years. We are wanting to get these kits to others in the community. However, with such a large collection (over 125 kits) and with a range of value and style (he has multiple that are limited editions and came at a high cost), we are trying to determine the best way to handle it. Can anyone offer input or suggestions? Thank you!
