I had a problem with the hull having a banana shape forward of #1 turret. When you looked down the centreline from stern to bow there was a noticeable curve to the right. I fixed the problem by soaking the forward section in a bucket of hot/boiling water and wrapping the piece in a towel (to prevent damage to the softened resin) and put the 'pivot' point of the curve on a 2 by 2 or 3 by 2 and applying pressure to counteract the curve. It took me over an hour with repeated heatings and counterbending but I got rid of most of the 'curve'. Be sure to soak the corrected part in COLD water to 'lock in' the counterbend at each heating/pressing/cooling cycle. Also be careful of the raised bulwark at the bow as it breaks easily. I read of someone on modelwarships with a 'bowing' issue on the forward part of the kit but it was a vertical instead of a lateral bend. I also has to externally source a bunch of quad 40s as the kit resin was not so hot. You may also need to do some mast straightening. I love Baltimores so I went thru a lot of trouble to do the fixes. One more thing is you may have to cobble in styrene or resins strips to the bilge keels and fair them in as the keels on my kit were somewhat 'intermittent'. Props, shafts & struts will also need attention. Kit will look good with lotsa TLC. Aftermarket P.E. will also be helpful.

So I just snagged one of thes off E - Bay for $80 including shipping. Sounded like it ended up a good deal especially since it seems the Trumpeter one will never come out. So all you model vets out there- is this a difficult build ? What do I need to watch out for ? I've read that this one has some....issues. But then, doesn't every almost every kit ? And I have built several ISW kits before.
