Aotori Bunka ZIMAT35013 USS San Diego 1945 from Squadron.com contains a very wide range of parts for different members and years of the Atlanta class, including the alternative upper bridges, the original 36" searchlight platform, the large boats and boat crane, etc. It took hours to identify the specific parts for USS San Diego in 1944-1945 and to extract those into labeled containers. They're maybe half the total inventory in the kit.
If you get the Aotori Bunka 1945 kit and transfer parts to yours to assemble USS San Diego in 1942, it's likely that the remaining 1945 kit will still suffice for a practically complete late-war USS San Diego or USS San Juan . The Aotori Bunka kit omits some equipage, such as ladders, liferails, the boat winch, floater net baskets, and the correct range of bridge instruments (available from Black Cat Models at $$ tariff now). The deckhouses on the 01-level under the forward 40mm gun tubs will be scratch-builds.

I have an "extra" Very Fire 1/350 Atlanta kit that was purchased to upgrade to a 1942 version betting that upgrade parts would be marketed for the conversion. Did that ever happen? If not going - will have to sell the "extra" some day.
