...knowing very well that War was coming to America very soon. It's unbelievable that our biggest Navy Yard on the West Coast was in absolutely NO position to defend itself if any attack occurred.
On 12/15 they finally took steps to install torpedo nets. It took them two weeks to finally get all the nets in place.

The proper solution of course would be have been anti-torpedo netting. But if there was any available on the West Coast, it would not have been readily available.

The photo's posted were dated after 12/12/41 per this diary of the orientation of the ships to protect their props and rudders.

HMS Warspite along with USS Coloroado was at Puget Sound Navy Yard on 12/7/41 when war broke out for America.
PSNY's initial reaction to protect both ships from possible torpedo attack is listed here. LOL!
Even though it was not known yet that USS Oglala (sister ship of USS Aroostook) did not save USS Helena from taking a torpedo at Pearl, it appears that they gave HMS Warspite the short end of the stick when it came to protecting her from possible torpedos. Ex-Ferry Quilcene is the best they could do? LOL!
Here we can see the awesome protection Quilcene provides HMS Warspite.
