The Customs and Border Patrol factsheet published on 08/18/2025 specifically notes that goods covered by § 1702(b) (including informational materials) are still eligible for duty‑free treatment.
In practice, parcels containing books should claim an exception using a Chapter 99 code.
I suppose the seller was unaware and did not code them as Chapter 99 in the declaration.
Books are non-fiction memoirs printed in the 1920s.
Oh well. Maybe show up eventually. Will give them up if not here by Christmas.
Sellers refunded. Will pay again if they do.

This is about two months old already, but was okay when current:

There is also this, from about the same date:

The other things I found were all dated much earlier. This is "the latest news" I found.
I have also read that the situation is variable, though. I wonder what has changed. I suspect that foreign shippers are not at all well informed, so choose to err on the side of caution and just not ship.

One from France and one from Germany. Value $26 and $44 respectively.
German seller advised shipments no longer possible due to political situation. He phrased it differently.
Attempted to purchase from another German seller and same answer. No more shipments to the USA.
