Correct. It seems that Yamato is some sort of hero or mascot to Japanese children.

Agree 100% - this sort of thing and those 'egg' type kits. I suppose they have a market and make the model companies money - but what a shame. Previous Message
Just saw on YouTube somebody is releasing a new tool 1/350 IJN Yamato “1965” fitted with Soviet looking missile tubes and a Ka-25 on the fantail. The box art shows it heading out through the Golden Gate.
We can’t get a truly accurate 1/350 Iowa class, but we can get crap that never existed….
