It happens to ships that aren’t being maintained. After a few years in reserve, the ships turn that pink color. Obviously, they are maintaining the superstructure.
Wisconsin has been a museum about 30 years. Previous Message
Went on a cruise out of Norfolk, Va. last week. The terminal is right next to the Wisconsin. Not sure how long she has been a museum, but appears she needs a paint job. The hull has faded to a pinkish grey hue, but yet the superstructure and turrets are still a darker grey. Has anybody else here seen this? I do wonder if this might have happened during her service in the war due to no time to paint. Seems like that would be a good camo scheme.
