The Bay class AA frigates were a variant of the Loch class anti-submarine class frigates (the best anti-submarine ships in WW2).
They dispensed with the double Squid installation (using a hedgehog instead) and installed 2 x twin 4-inch AA guns.
The hull was different to the Rivers being made of numerous prefabricated elements and fully welded together on site, including such things as the sonar and radar "huts" fully fitted out at a factory. Pictures show the "flat" lines in the hull and superstructure to make fabrication and assembly easier.
The Lochs' fire control system was very sophisticated with any direction system (radar/asdic/optical) being able to aim any weapon system (obviously NOT asdic and AA). This was because the requirement was that the squid could be used to fire against surfaced U-Boats (and even E-Boats/S-Boats).
( Anyone might guess that the Lochs are my favourite WW2 ships - after the Black Swans ! )
