I did a quick Navsource search of applicable photos of several Omaha-class light cruisers in which the decks were clearly displayed -- no evidence of wood planking, so presumably they had steel decks.

or were they the same as the destroyers. some of the light & heavy cruisers' Booklet of General Plans during the war & just after show wood decks. Previous Message
Rereading Friedman's Cruiser book, again and I came across a statement that got me curious. Friedman includes removal of wood deck planking as part of the upgrades to a war footing. Anyone clarify this or "expand" on the statement? Did any cruisers have their deck planking removed, like the Omaha class??
