Excellent photos of the USS Raleigh. Several features of this ship are worth noting, especially for modelers (I've just completed a 1/350 1941 USS Marblehead): Like most ships of this class, by 1941 the two lower rear casemate 6-in. guns have been removed and not just plated over but with their locations now covered by smooth extensions of the hull. There appear to be seven 3-in. AA guns -- two on each side amidships, a pair astride the foremast struts, and one on the rear bridge. There is at least one pair of .50 cal machines guns in the gun tub atop the foremast, and four atop the rear bridge between the remaining rear casemate guns. There are quad 1.1-in. AA mounts and superstructures between the rear bridge and rear twin 6-in. turret and between the bridge and forward twin 6-in. turret. The mainmast has been significantly shortened, there is no pole foremast above the gun tub, and no radars are yet installed. There are stays (supporting cables) for the two forward funnels but apparently none for the rear funnels (which are likely unnecessary with searchlight towers on either side of both). Lastly, note the ship's bell beneath the enclosed platform between the foremast struts.

Some nice detail shots of Raleigh after the attack on 12/7/41.
