P.S were supposed to pre wash model sprues too supposedly to remove any mold release from them for better paint adhesion, have NEVER done that either..I'm an OLD School Model Master Enamel guy myself and that sticks to ANYTHIMG.. Now that Rustoleum in all their wisdom abandoned the line, I'm trying to get used to Acrylics I like Vallejo, and Tamiya, unfortunately Tamiya has a poor color selection..

Hmmmmmm.... weird! I've never had that happen.
I forgot! Before I even prime the photo etch I wash it in Dawn dishwashing detergent and let it dry. Then I prime it with Tamiya primer. Try that method - it should work. Previous Message
good afternoon, yeh, this is what I used and it flaked rite off the photo etch.. I had to strip the brass with Acetone and start over with self etching auto primer.. we will see how that works out..thanks a bunch for the input also beautiful model.. Previous Message
I use Tamiya Fine Light Grey primer. I like it as I have sprayed acrylic or enamel over it and has worked like a charm. Also, it adheres very tightly and does not obscure any detail. Highly recommended.

Just curious, what are people using nowdays to prime PE to stop flaking and scratching?? I have been using self etching auto primer and it works ok, but whats the best primer in the model paint world?? as I am sure you also have experienced, getting finish to stay on your parts can be a challenge.. thanks P.S, I have used old model master enamel from my stash as a pre coat, that works ok, but as you know, thats very expensive when you can find it nowdays..
